Started out in Nam 1965... but I had to stay in my billet until I could find some adequate resolution. Needless to say, I'm still searching! From Military Advisor to contract operator... even after retiring as an O-5, to CEO of an int'l counter-terrorist consulting firm I can't let go. Please let me know if you ever find a lasting sanctuary. I need to find peace and the VA is useless. |

I work at the VA in Marion, IN. I don't know you well, but I know who you are. Maybe this site will give me a better understanding of your life, its circumstances, where you have been, and where you are coming from. |

Just wanted give a big ole' "Memorial Day Salute" in memory of those we loved, lost and the ones left behind. Last year, I spent May 22 through June 2 at the Veteran's Memorial Hospital in Temple, TX with my dad Billy L. Adams. I remember making the statement to my uncle, "I can't believe that people are in here and no family or friends have come to visit them." This Monday, I'm going back to the VA hospital in Temple in memory of my dad who passed June 2, 2008. I plan on spending the whole day visiting and thanking every one I can. I would like to thank Jay so much for his poem "The War is Over". I enlarged one of daddy's vietnam pictures and printed the poem over it and placed it in a frame for everyone to see. During my dad's memorial service, one of my cousins read it aloud. The response was enormus. Everyone wanted a copy, and I was proud to share it with them. I plan on making copies and handing them out in the hospital. Thanks again and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!! |

This is amazing poetry! I'm teaching my 6,7,8th grade students about Memorial Day, and these words make it come alive for them.
My boyfriend has been in many combat situations since Vietnam and has PTSD - I hold him at night when he'd rather jump off a building to make it all go away.
Thak you, and keep writing - you are being heard! |

Jay,
I just came across your comment on the old-VERPA petition. Great to hear from you . . .
How are you doing? I have not made it back to Kokomo yet, but, plan to get back there one of these years . . .
We are at www.verpapublishing.us (now) and still fighting the good fight against Feres and other (public servant) injustices.
God bless,
True |

my dad was a vietnam vet. USMC!! He died last year as a result of what vietnam did to him, he suffered PTSD and he died of liver cancer. He was the strongest person I have ever known and I know that he was never alone, he always had his brothers from the Marines and other veterans who understood his demons. Bless every man and woman who has defended this country |
