The Ten Demandments
(Available IN PRINT HERE!)
My first thought is of my war
Nothing else seems to matter anymore
My second thought is of the dead
I wonder why these thoughts I keep in my head
My third thought is trying to stay alive
Until this day I wonder how I survived
My fourth thought is of PTSD
Why in the hell won't it let me be?
My fifth thought is a flashback
Wondering how the hell I made it back
My sixth thought is of a firefight
I think of these during the day and the night
My seventh thought is of sniper fire
Claymores, sandbags, and concertina wire
My eight thought is of the men we left behind
So long ago, behind enemy lines
My ninth thought is of the Vietnam Vet
Those on the ground and those flying jets
My tenth thought is of suicide
Wondering and waiting for the other side
